Description

This yasurime Menpō (mask) is probably from Early Edo period, 17th century.
Russet-iron surface engraved with parallel lines, the nose is detachable and with odayori-no-kugi on the cheeks; wide mouth with silvered teeth, a broad red-lacquered upper lip, a hair moustache and chin tuft; the five-plate yodare-kake of iron kiritsuke kozane is black lacquered and laced in blue kebiki odoshi.
